Enid native Harold T. Holden is set to be inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum during the annual Western Heritage Awards on April 21–22. This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals whose work in art, literature, music, film, and television reflects the enduring stories and values of the American West.

Holden’s career spans decades, beginning with commercial art and serving as art director at Horseman Magazine before pursuing fine art full-time. His paintings and monumental bronze sculptures are displayed across Oklahoma and the nation, including a 5-foot-8-inch oil painting of Western Oklahoma in the state Capitol and Boomer, a bronze commemorating the 1893 Cherokee Strip Land Run in Enid. Other works grace universities, airports, courthouses, and historic sites, demonstrating his dedication to preserving Western heritage.

In addition to celebrating Holden’s achievements, the Western Heritage Awards will feature panel discussions, receptions, and the presentation of The Wrangler bronze sculpture—awarded to each honoree as a symbol of excellence in Western artistry. Holden’s induction cements his legacy as a cornerstone of Oklahoma art and a chronicler of the cowboy way of life, ensuring his contributions will inspire future generations.
