Harold T. “H” Holden’s story is one of grit, talent, and deep Oklahoma roots. From riding his pony in the Cherokee Strip Parade as a child to meeting the legendary Frank Eaton, Harold’s life has been intertwined with the cowboy spirit from the start. A self-taught sculptor and painter, he has spent more than 35 years capturing the essence of the American West through over 20 monumental works across Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas. Despite facing health challenges, including a lung transplant, Harold’s passion never wavered. Honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by OSU in 2005 and chosen to create the “We Will Remember” monument at Gallagher-Iba Arena, his career is marked by humility, artistry, and a dedication to preserving Western heritage. This article reflects on his journey, his inspirations, and his enduring legacy as one of Oklahoma’s most beloved cowboy artists.
