Lone Star Report | National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum Awards

The May 2017 issue of Lone Star Report Magazine highlighted two major celebrations of Western tradition. In Hagansport, Texas, Joe Dan and Amy Stanley’s semiannual farm equipment and horse auction once again drew hundreds of buyers from across the region for a weekend of community, commerce, and cowboy culture. Meanwhile, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s annual Western Heritage Awards in Oklahoma City, artists and performers who have preserved and promoted the Western way of life were recognized. Among the honorees was Enid native and celebrated artist Harold T. “H” Holden, inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners for his lifetime of work capturing the spirit of the American West through painting and sculpture. Holden’s monuments, including The Boomer and Headin’ to Market, stand as lasting tributes to Oklahoma’s history and heritage.
